In the past, OnRequest Images offered a custom photo stock approach which allowed clients to post assignment specs & prices they would pay for images. Photographers would then shoot the requested images with no guarantee a client would select and buy their work.
The idea failed!.
Now, CustomAdArt.com has revived the custom stock model providing a place for clients to post assignment briefs that photographers can then shoot on spec. This site is intended to turn the stock photo industry around everyone involved. I doubt the idea will work any better as deja vu because clients require consistent quality and certainty of delivery that this model will have trouble providing. But, that just one shooter's perspective. At least, it may help the custom stock model in these challenging times?

Milton; Early Mentor & Dear Dedicated PhotographerVoices Silenced, Faces Preserved
Voices Silenced, Faces Preserved by Milton Rogovin. Milton was one of those people who I met when I first started taking Images (way before I could Make Images). He and his wife Anne were part of the "street" of the Lower West Side of Buffalo (Allentown section) that I lived in. A gentle man with a warmly smiling wife always at his side, they captured the essence and dignity of the poeple. I learned much about "seeing" and "feeling images" from this quiet steadfast gentleman. To my great pleasure, afew days ago, I saw an article about my old friend in the New York Times Art & Design section today. I share it with you and hope you then look for Milton's other works you will be visually rewarded by the man.Source: New York Times, by Randy Kennedy, August 9,2009
